A Dayton-area electrical parts and services company is gearing up for growth by adding space in a headquarters move.
During the past two months, Staco Energy Products quietly moved its headquarters from Dayton to Byers Road in Miamisburg, where it has leased 8,000 square feet. The new space holds executive offices, a training center and an executive meeting room, Jeff Hoffman, president of Staco, told me Monday afternoon.
Miamisburg also will be home to a new engineering lab for research and development of products, but Hoffman said the scope and value of that investment has yet to be determined.
Staco — with about 70 employees total — makes voltage control, VAR compensation, uninterruptible power supplies and engineered power quality solutions. Production work, along with some research and development, will still continue at the company’s Dayton facility. About a dozen people will be based in Miamisburg.
Hoffman, who took the lead role at Staco in February, said the move was spurred by the need for a large training area for technicians and manufacturing reps as well as a nice place that “showed well” to potential customers. He expects to add one or two employees in 2014. Staco performed well in 2013, with sales up 20 percent, on the strength of a new large account and the launch of multiple new products, Hoffman added.
The company was founded in Dayton about 75 years ago. In the late 1960’s it was purchased by Dallas-based Components Corp. of America and is still a wholly owned subsidiary.
